TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - New campaign finance records are showing that those linked to an alleged gambling scandal pumped nearly $100,000 into campaign accounts this year.

State authorities in March arrested nearly 60 people linked to a purported veterans charity accused of setting up illegal gambling rooms.

But in the days and weeks before the arrests those linked to the charity were still giving lots of money to those who had the power to regulate them or put them out of business.

Some politicians, including Rep. Jimmy Patronis, R-Panama City, returned checks days after the arrests. But other politicians have not returned the money.

Other legislators said on Thursday that they were unaware that they accepted money from those connected to Allied Veterans of the World.
