JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Cadezsha Campbell, 19, escaped from an attempted kidnapping that occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

JSO reported that Campbell went for an afternoon run down Old Middleburg Road on Tuesday around 4 p.m. Campbell told police that a man pulled up next to her in a dark blue Chevrolet Suburban and yelled "get in the car".

Campbell ignored the suspect's request and continued running. The suspect allegedly stopped, exited from the vehicle and approached Campbell. According to the victim, the suspect grabbed her by the arms and attempted to force her in the Surburban.

At one point during the alleged kidnapping, Campbell was able to free herself from the suspect and attempt to run away but then the suspect punched her in the right eye and get away.

Campbell said as she was running away she heard two gunshots but could not confirm if the shots came from the suspect's vehicle.

Campbell ran to the Canterbury Apartments to contact the police and her ex-boyfriend to pick her up.

According to the JSO report, there were no visible signs of injury. However, the victim reported that her face was sore but refused rescue.

Police said at this time patrol efforts have been suspended.
