JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Local fans react to Tim Tebow's release from the New York Jets and the big question has been whether they will see Tebow play for an NFL team again and if so, which one?
"Jaguars should get him, he would be a good addition to the team, get more fans, sell more tickets, think it would be pretty good," said Keetan Smith, a local fan.
Since the news broke that former New York Jets Quarterback Tim Tebow is a free agent, some of his fans in Jacksonville hoped it would mean he could end up playing for the Jags.
"Since draft day I wanted him him here, but it didn't work out," said Smith.
Tebow fans call him a hometown hero and say coming back home could mean a boost for the Jaguars team.
"I can understand the Jaguars for making the announcement that they are not interested, but I do agree it would be a big boost for this city being that he is from here and it would fill the stands," said Matt Meadows, a football fan. "I mean, there would be a lot of people, just to come and see Tim Tebow take the field, but you can't build a football team around that."
Most of Tebow's local fans have followed him since he was number 15 for the Gators and then once he made his break into the NFL with the Denver Broncos, but they say they are not sure what his next move is.
"I don't think that he has the skills necessary for the NFL," said Taylor James, a football fan.
Others say they think Tebow still belongs on the field, but are just not quite sure where.
"I think I saw it coming. He didn't fit well with the Jets organization I think he'll fit with a team somewhere, it may not be the NFL, I think he may end up going to Canada. I think he's a great athlete and a great person, personally I think he needs to change his view that he only wants to be a quarterback," said Meadows.
