JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- Local sports stores reported a low demand for Tim Tebow Jets jerseys and don't think that will change now that he is a free agent.
The stock room at Sports Mania in Jacksonville Beach is filled with Jets Tebow jerseys.
"We've got tons and tons of inventory," said manager David Horton.
But not because there's been a high demand.
Store manager David Horton says they have about 200 jerseys that have been sitting on the shelf.
"Originally we couldn't get enough stuff in for the Denver Broncos, when he moved to the Jets obviously we overbooked everything," said Horton.
The Tebow craze seems to have died down across the board.
The Sports Mania store at The Landing also reports they haven't had a full stock of Tebow Jets jerseys since last August.
Horton, whose store is located at the Jacksonville Beach, says that people still love Tim Tebow, but apparently not with the Jets.
"After he went to the Jets, I don't know, there just wasn't enough following that they had for the Denver Broncos and we just couldn't sell stuff as quickly as when he was with the broncos," Horton said.
The jerseys, originally sold for $100, now sell for $39.99.
The same trend can be seen online.
Stores and internet sites have slashed Tebow Jets merchandise prices in half.
Sports Mania still carries Tebow's Florida Gator jersey, but the manager says if there is any rush for Tebow attire after he was released by the Jets, it will probably be for Gator or Broncos jerseys.
