NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. -- Those that live in Nassau County may need to alter their disaster plans.

One of the three evacuation routes will closed starting May 6 and will remain that way throughout hurricane season.

With lessons learned in the wake of Tropical Storm Debby, residents that live low-lying areas with saturated ground can expect to be evacuated sooner.

It's not just the height of the water rising that officials are concerned about, but water flowing with the force of an SUV all the way to Hilliard.

As a result, more water markers will be added in the future by Nassau County Emergency Management to help gauge the water for future evacuations.
