BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. - Another wave of scam phone calls has hit.
According to a Facebook post from the Bradford County Sheriff's Office, the most recent scam involves phone calls from individuals claiming to be from the Publisher's Clearing House. The caller allegedly tells recipients they have won millions of dollars.
The red flag is that in order to claim the prize the recipient is asked to obtain two Green Dot Visa cards in certain dollar amounts and then call a phone number to provide the pre-paid Visa information.
The BCSO warns these types of calls are almost always a scam and offers the following tips.
- Do not disclose your Social Security Number or other personal information
- Do not disclose ANY banking information
- Do not deposit a check and send some of the money back
- Do not send cash or check to qualify to win the prize
The BCSO adds, "Remember, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is!"
