PALM COAST, Fla. -- The Flagler County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Sunday incident where an 11-year-old boy was reportedly offered "candy and toys" to get into a man's van.
The incident happened on Red Mill Drive just before 4 p.m. Sunday while the boy was riding his bike, according to a release from FCSO Public Information Officer Lt. Bob Weber.
According to the release, the boy was approached "by a black man in a shiny, black, full-size van. The male was described as having a medium complexion, shoulder lengthy dread locks and wearing a black jacket or long sleeve shirt with a white undershirt."
After being offered the "candy and toys," the boy ran home screaming and told his mother what had happened.
"We are investigating this report, but at this time, we have had no other similar reports. However, it is always timely for parents to remind their youngsters to never talk with strangers and report suspicious activities," Sheriff James L. Manfre said in the release.
Anyone who may have information on this incident is asked to call FCSO at (386) 313-4911.
