Kangaroo convenience store in Bradford County robbed

BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. -- An armed robbery occurred at a Kangaroo convenience store on SW SR 231 in Brooker, Florida early Wednesday evening.

According to a Bradford County Facebook post, Michael Jay James, 25, allegedly entered the store wearing a mask and hoodie brandishing a firearm while the other suspect, Ashley Rae Baer, 24, stayed in the car with the engine running.

James demanded money from the cashier and received an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes then left quickly.

According to the BCSO post, witnesses to the incident followed the suspects' vehicle advising dispatchers where the suspects were heading until they lost sight of the vehicle in the area of SW CR 231 (Dedan Loope).

Deputies responded to the area and found the car on Dedan Loope being driven by Baer. The deputies performed a felony stop procedure and took the suspects into custody without incident.

Both suspects have been charged with Robbery with a firearm and Assault with the intent to commit a felony, and are being held at the Bradford County jail.
