COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A 12-year-old passenger was killed in a car crash around 8:30 p.m. Saturday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said, Megan Nicole Rigdon was riding as a passenger with Norma Jean Schenck, 43, in a 1996 Dodge 1500 when their vehicle was hit by car that ran a stop sign.

Schenck was driving north on State Road 47 when her car was hit by a 2002 Honda S2000 driven by Joshua Nolan Orndorff, 31 of Tallahassee.

Orndorff was traveling east on SW King Street when he ran the stop sign at the intersection of SW King Street and State Road 47 driving right into the path of Schenck's car.

As a result of the impact, Orndorff's car hit a utility pole, after this impact the car ended up coming to final rest on the east shoulder of State Road 47.

Schenck's car traveled onto the shoulder of State Road 47 where it overturned ejecting both Rigdon and Schenck. The Dodge came to rest on its right side. Ridgon and Schenck were not wearing seatbelts.

Rigdon was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Columbia County Emergency Medical Services.

Schenck was transported to UF Heath at Jacksonville in critical condition.

Orndorff was also transported to UF Health with non life-threatening injuries.
