COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- The Columbia County Sheriff's Office has issued a release regarding a solicitor claiming to represent their office, requesting monies.
Several residents of Columbia County contacted the Sheriff's office in concern. The release states that the soliciting individual actually represents the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) from Jacksonville.
"The FOP is a labor organization representing individual law enforcement officers. Local, county and state law enforcement agencies are publicly funded and will never solicit donations from the community".
Sheriff Mark Hunter does not endorse nor approve anyone soliciting money on behalf of the Sheriff's Office.
