JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- New details on a deadly crash Sunday morning have been released by the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.
Police responded to the early morning crash at 6:15 a.m. on the westbound entrance ramp to J. Turner Butler Boulevard from 3rd Street, according to a release from the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.
The driver, identified as 23-year-old Daniel John Mas, lost control of his vehicle on the ramp and allegedly overcompensated his turn causing the vehicle to slide off the roadway where it overturned into a retention pond.
The driver was killed in the crash and two passengers suffered minor injuries and were treated on scene.
The crash is still under investigation and at this point there is no information as to whether or not alcohol was a factor.
