VALDOSTA, Ga. -- The death of 17-year-old Kendrick Johnson has this South Georgia city under a microscope with many questions being raised about the investigation into his death.

On Friday, the teen's body was exhumed at the request of his parents for another autopsy.

Johnson was found dead January 11 in the Lowndes High gymnasium inside a wrestling mat. Investigators ruled the teen went into the hole of the mat to retrieve shoes. His body was found a day later.

His parents question how he could have got inside the mat where the hole was 14 inches wide.

Since there son's death, Kenneth and Jacquelyn Johnson have been holding a peaceful protest for more answers outside the Lowndes County courthouse.

The family attorney, Chevene King, says the investigation that concluded Johnson suffocated to death does not follow the evidence.

"The EMTs said they regarded it to be a crime scene and they noted bruising to the right jaw, something that was never mentioned in the autopsy report," said King.

The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office stands by its investigation saying investigators followed the evidence interviewing more than 100 people.

The second autopsy which will be performed in Orlando could be finished by early next week.
