JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Expensive cigars and extravagant desserts: Not what you would expect to hear about from someone possibly facing possible prison time.

Former FOP President Nelson Cuba is accused of embezzling thousands of dollars as part of the alleged Allied Veterans of the World scheme, but he hasn't been heard from him since he was charged in early March.

But now he's back online.

There are only six Tweets, starting early this month, but strangely the first Tweets Cuba sent out since his arrest were about ice cream and smoking cigars.

"It's him basically saying 'I'm still living the good life,'" said Attorney Richard Kuritz.

Kuritz isn't representing Cuba, but from a legal perspective, he thinks the tweets are trouble.

"Absolutely weird. That's not something you would expect from your defendant, as a lawyer, that's something I would not expect, I would discourage that," he said.

The six tweets from early June are mostly pictures of expensive cigars and desserts and a short video he captioned "I should be in a toothpaste commercial."

Kuritz said it could hurt Cuba in the long run.

"If he's at a sentencing hearing, we're talking about is he remorseful, does he have second thoughts about what he did, and if he's on there flaunting it, that's something that could be used against him," he said.

First Coast News has reached out to Cuba to see if it was him writing the tweets, but he has not responded.
