JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Motorcyclists all across Florida will be hitting the road in solidarity Monday.
The Florida Department of Transportation is hosting its 22nd annual Ride to Work Day.
The idea is to spread awareness about the need for motorcycle safety and awareness.
Florida is a popular destination for motorcyclists, with about 70,000 bikes registered in the state currently.
The problem, though, is thousands of bikes are involved in crashes every year. Some are even fatal. In 2010, roughly 7,400 motorcycles were involved in crashes in the state.
Members of the Duval County chapter of ABATE appeared on Good Morning Jacksonville Monday with Jacob Long to talk more about why crashes are troubling and how they can be avoided.
