JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Five people were detained by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in connection with homemade bombs being thrown onto properties in Northwest Jacksonville.
The following people, plus two juveniles, according to a JSO incident report, were charged with Discharge Device, Make/Throw/Project/Place/Discharge (or Attempt):
- Randy James Harris, 18
- Christopher Thomas Combs, 38
- Eric Joseph Mathis, 23
A resident in the 10700 block of Ogalla Avenue reported that a plastic bottle containing an explosive substance was thrown into his yard on Saturday, the report stated.
The same resident reported another bottle being thrown over his privacy fence and into his yard on Tuesday night. Earlier Tuesday night, police responded to reports of a similar bottle being thrown at the Lavilla Sports Club at 7977 New Kings Road.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on Sycamore Street with a 2006 Toyota Scion being driven by Harris, who gave officers written consent to search the vehicle.
"Numerous plastic bombs were found throughout the vehicle. In the rear passenger floorboard all the ingredients for making the bomb were found," the report detailed.
Combs was also charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
He was still in jail as of Wednesday afternoon, as were Thomas and
