Charles Danny Massey, 38
Justin Adam Boyles, 24
FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. -- Two men already in jail are facing new charges of kidnapping and first degree murder.
Justin Adam Boyles, 24, and 38-year-old Charles Danny Massey, both of Palm Coast, are suspected of kidnapping and murdering another Flagler County man last month, according to a St. Johns County Sheriff's Office media release.
The 54-year-old victim has tentatively been identified as Edward Scott Mullener, also of Palm Coast, according to the release.
Mullener's remains were allegedly found in the trunk of Mullener's older model Cadillac which was discovered on a logging road in the early morning hours on June 14 in Flagler Estates. The vehicle and body were destroyed by fire, according to the SJCSO release.
Based on the examination of the remains by the district medical examiner, the cause of death was determined to be "homicidal violence by undetermined means" and the manner of death was "homicide," the release detailed.
After further investigation by multiple agencies, it was determined that the two suspects knew the victim. It is believed the suspects got into an argument with the victim, then beat and tortured him before setting the victim and his car on fire in Flagler Estates.
Massey is currently being held in the St. Johns County Jail without bond. Boyle is being held without bond in the Flagler County jail.
An investigation is ongoing into other persons who may have been connected in this homicide.
