Jacksonville Sheriff's Office seeks man wanted for beating officer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help locating a man facing multiple charges.

Gale Patrick Murray, 36, has active warrants for battery on a law enforcement officer, domestic battery, resisting an officer with violence and escape, according to a release from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Murray was being detained by JSO in a patrol car on April 23 in relation to a domestic issue. After an investigation police attempted to arrest Murray. However, when Murray was informed that he was being placed under arrest, he hit the officer in the chest knocking the officer down, the release states.

Murray is accused of continuing to batter the officer, escaping from the patrol car and taking off on foot.

Murray has numerous tattoos on neck and body and is about 5-feet-5 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds.

According to police, Murray has been seen the area of Lane and I-10, around the hotels near I-10.
