UPDATE, 7/16/13: The swimmer was found dead at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, according to Capt. Jay Wiggins with Glynn County Emergency Management.
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Fla. -- Multiple Georgia agencies are searching for a teen swimmer that went missing on Sunday.
Around 4:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, three individuals swam out to a sand bar located 100 yards off the beach near 6th street in St. Simons Island, according to Director of Glynn County Emergency Management, Cpt. Jay Wiggins.
When the tide came in two of the swimmers returned to shore, one of the swimmers did not.
The missing swimmer is a 16-year-old male from Brunswick.
Glynn County Police Department, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Coast Guard and Glynn County Emergency Management are assisting in the search.
