JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 21-year-old man is in custody and accused of kidnapping and sexually battering a teen.
Police responded to reports of a missing person Tuesday, after a 16-year-old left home around 9:30 a.m. to go to a friend's house. The 16-year-old never arrived at her friend's. Instead the friend went to the victim's house looking for her about an hour later.
Police were dispatched to the victim's home in the 5100 block of Collins Road at 11:23 a.m. after numerous attempts to reach the victim via cell phone failed, according to a release from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Police learned the missing teen would have taken a path through the woods to get to her friend's house. JSO followed the path which lead to an empty duplex on the 8700 block of Pinevalley Lane.
When police arrived at the duplex the missing teen came running up to an officer stating she had been sexually assaulted, according to the JSO release. The teen victim was able to provide police with a suspect description.
Thaddeus Limuel Anderson, 21, was located a short time later crossing Whispering Pines Lane from Pinevalley Lane and taken into custody.
Further investigation revealed Anderson allegedly grabbed the teen from behind and forced her into the abandoned house where he sexually battered the girl.
Anderson appeared in court Wednesday morning on charges of kidnapping, burglary and three counts of sexual battery. Anderson is currently being held on $1,050,015 bond.
According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Anderson is currently under "community supervision," after being released from the Lancaster Correctional Institution in January of 2012. Anderson served a two-year-six-month sentence following a conviction of carjacking and armed robbery in 2011, for crimes that occurred in 2009.
