FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -- The Fernandina Beach Police Department is seeking the public's help in locating a suspect in a Thursday night attempted armed robbery.

While driving up to make an after hours deposit around 11:30 p.m. at First Coast Community Bank on South 14th Street, a manager from a local business was approached by a man carrying a gun, according to a release from Fernandina Beach Chief of Police James T. Hurley.

The suspect demanded money and the manager was able to "accelerate rapidly" and get away, but was shot once by the suspect while fleeing, Hurley said.

The manager was later transported and released from Baptist Nassau Hospital.

The suspect is described as wearing a gray hoodie, 5'9", thin build and has unkempt facial hair.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact Detective Tracey Hamilton of the Fernandina Beach Police Department at 277-7342.
