JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- The newest millionaire on the First Coast is Joseph Kozlowski, 61, a winner in Saturday's Powerball drawing.
Kozlowski won $2 million. He was not home, but his wife said that they want to enjoy some privacy.
The winning ticket was sold at Terry's Country Store on Penman Road.
"It is exciting to sell a ticket to someone who won $2 million," said Terry Smith.
Owner Smith is talking about the winning ticket.
"I wish it was me instead," said Smith, "but if I can't, I'm glad for them."
Smith said since he became a lotto retailer, the store has sold a number of winning tickets, but this is the biggest.
Terry's Country Store gets a $5,000 bonus commission for making the sale.
"Joe is a regular Joe here," said Smith.
Smith said earlier this week, Kozlowski went to the store to confirm his winnings. Smith got the confirmation call from the lottery office. Terry's Country Store has been in business 30 years and it's a local favorite.
"We've sold a couple of Fantasy 5s anywhere from fifty-something to $200,000," said Smith.
But now this lotto retailer will be known for creating one of the newest Powerball millionaires.
"Don't you wish it had been you?" asked Smith.
By the way, the winner's wife told Smith she will still come to the store on Wednesdays for her five percent discount.
