JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It was an emotional day Saturday for a Jacksonville family awaiting the return of an American soldier from his second tour overseas.
His father and sister welcomed Army Sergeant James Hyun at Jacksonville International Airport with open arms.
The 24-year-old medic told First Coast News after months apart, he's glad to come home and help his father -- who is battling cancer.
Hyun says his father's optimism has been a source of inspiration for him while stationed overseas.
Now that he's home, though, Hyun says the first items on his agenda are a shower and a good night's sleep in his own bed.
