MAYPORT, Fla. -- The taxpayer subsidy of operating the St. Johns River Ferry is expected to range from from $400,000 to $1 million next year, based on information obtained by our news partner, The Florida Times Union.
According to the TU, "commission members said they will meet again to tighten the figures and seek to get the subsidy down to the lower end of the spectrum."
The ferry's budget was slated to go before city council Wednesday, but has been postponed to allow time for "hammering out" management contracts and budget proposals.
A subcommittee is expected to meet on Friday.
