JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville resident was named a Champion For Good by Allstate Insurance Company on August 27.
Schanna Speight-Johnson was honored as part of the Give It Up For Good campaign, an initiative that urges people to share the good in their community by recognizing and highlighting the unsung heroes who dedicate themselves to enriching the lives of others.
Speight-Johnson was surprised with her award Tuesday by Allstate at the local Pace Center for Girls where she currently serves as a social studies teacher.
Speight-Johnson is known for her countless acts of community service and commitment to giving back through her work with the Why Not Me Campaign. The non-profit organization helps children and teens reach their potential by fostering self-esteem, personal growth and dedication to their dreams.
As part of the honor, Speight-Johnson and her family will attend the Allstate Tom Joyner Family Reunion in Orlando this week where she will encourage others to "Give It Up For Good".
