ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- As crews worked to prepare the concert field for the Gentlemen of the Road tour,  Heather Neville showed off something she hopes will lessen traffic congestion downtown.

They were a few cylindrical pieces of galvanized steel that create mobile bike racks.

As the executive Director of Velo Fest - a St. Augustine group which promotes cycling - she is excited about what the bike racks will do.

They will be a part of the Mumford and Sons concert weekend in St. Augustine.

With a donation from Canan Law, Velo Fest will have enough racks to park 3,000 bikes during the concert weekend in a lot next to the concert field.  It'll be called a bike valet.

"You will come, leave your bicycle," Neville explained.  "You can leave it with one of our volunteers, they give you a valet ticket and you gut go on about and enjoy yourselves. When you get ready to leave, they valet is there for you."

"I think this is a great idea!  It's the first time I've heard anything about it," Elijah Hostuttler rode up on his bike to check out the racks.  He rides a bicycle everyday around St. Augustine.  He said it gets him around town faster than a car does.

"I can't wait to see that many bikes in a line. It's so cool!  All those different bikes. All those different people," Hostuttler beamed.

Velo Fest is also offering a Park and Peddle program. Concert goers can pay a comparatively small fee to park their cars at the St. Augustine Amphitheater and then ride their bikes - less than a mile - to the concert field.

And then, weeks after Mumford and Sons has left St. Augustine, the racks can be used for other events to cut down on car traffic and car parking issues.

"These racks will be available to the community and we're working out how that will happen. We've already been approach by three events in October alone for the bike valet," Neville noted.
