JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Department of Parks and Recreation is making some cuts, but not in the budget.

The department will be trimming trees in Hemming Park starting Monday.

The trees will be trimmed "in an effort to maintain the health and well being of the trees", according to a Parks and Rec email.

The department also cited ensuring the trees do not become a safety hazard as another reason for the maintenance.

During the work, the park will be closed in different sections to allow for foot traffic.

Lewis Trees will trim the trees to remove all the dead limbs.

No trees will be removed during the process, according to Parks and Rec.
