JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One man is dead and another is in custody following a Sunday afternoon crash in Arlington.
Jonathan Philip Lindsay, 20, is accused of running a red light at the intersection of University Boulevard and Merrill Road, striking a car with the right of way, according to a release from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Lindsay was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when his car slammed into the driver's side door of 64-year-old Robert Hyde's truck.
Hyde was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
After the 3:30 p.m. crash, Lindsay allegedly got out of his car and attempted to flee the scene on foot.
When officers caught Lindsay, he allegedly struck an officer according to the JSO release. Lindsay was tasered during the altercation with JSO and taken to a local hospital to be checked for injuries.
Lindsay was charged with two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and was absentee booked without bond into the Duval County Jail.
Lindsay's first appearance is scheduled for Monday September 30 at 1 p.m.
