JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Business owners near the Mathews Bridge said they need the bridge to re-open sooner rather than later -- their business depends on it.
Mo Smith works at a gas station on University very close to the bridge.
River pilot witnesses Mathews Bridge hit by ship
"Mathews Bridge was helpful for everybody -- it's helpful for the while neighborhood, and now it's a very hard situation," he said.
Smith said the weekend closures of the bridge were tough enough for his business. He said the round-the-clock shut down is disasterous.
"It's not making it any better, it's worse", he said.
Earnest Harden has run his business, Computer Traders of Jacksonville, in the same spot near the bridge for almost 20 years.
"The bridge certainly has impacted our business", he said. "The longer it's out the more impact it'll have."
Florida Department of Transportation has a press conference planned for Tuesday afternoon. A plan to re-open could be one of the topics.
It's something business owners near the Mathews said they'll be listening to very closely.
