JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A woman is in critical condition at UF Health after being involved in a three car crash on Interstate 10 Tuesday morning.
One of the vehicles involved in the crash, possibly a white Chevrolet van, left the scene and is being sought by Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash took place around 6:50 a.m. west of State Road 23 on I-10.
According to FHP, the van and a blue Toyota Scion were traveling west on I-10 when, for reasons undetermined, the Toyota traveled through the median and collided head-on with a Honda Accord traveling eastbound.
The driver of the Toyota, 27-year-old Sara Elisabeth Norman Gerard, was taken to UF Health in critical condition.
FHP is investigating two possible causes for the crash.
Investigators are trying to determine if the van struck the Toyota or if the driver of the van was changing lanes and caused the driver of the Toyota to lose control.
The driver of the Honda, Terri Carrigg, 52, was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital in serious condition.
Gerard was not wearing her seat belt, according to FHP.
FHP is asking for the public's assistance in locating the white van and its driver. Anyone with information should call 904-301-3700.
