PALM COAST, Fla. -- A stolen gun was allegedly found by police under a couch in the home of a 17-year-old convicted felon during a search.
Investigators with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit served a search warrant Tuesday morning at a home in the 10th block of Zoeller Court in Palm Coast, according to a release from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
A search warrant was obtained following an investigation into the possession of a stolen gun by 17-year-old Michael Shawn McRoberts Jr., who lives at the home.
Detectives recovered a loaded Arms Corp 38 special revolver under a couch in the teen's living room, the release detailed.
The gun had been reported stolen on October 3 from a home in the "F" section of Palm Coast.
McRoberts was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, dealing in stolen property and violation of probation.
A second suspect was also arrested, James Kirsch Jr., 20, and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, dealing in stolen property and violation of probation.
"Our investigators should be commended for their quick action in being able to locate this firearm and take it off the street and out of the hands of these two individuals, both of whom have prior felony convictions," said Sheriff James L. Manfre.
McRoberts was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice Facility in Daytona Beach where he is being held.
Kirsch was transported to the Flagler County Inmate Facility and is being held on $15,000 bond.
