JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man is in critical condition at UF Health after his motorcycle crashed Saturday evening.
John Wayne Engster, 59, was riding his Harley motorcycle on the I-295 south entrance ramp from JTB around 5:30 p.m., according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Engster failed to navigate the curve of the ramp and traveled into the grass.
According to FHP, Engster lost control, was ejected off the bike and struck the guardrail.
He was transported to UF Health with life threatening injuries.
Roads around the scene were shut down for hours while authorities investigated the crash.
Engster was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to FHP.
