JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two undercover narcotic detectives were injured during a drug bust gone wrong Wednesday evening.
The incident began in the parking lot of the CVS located at the intersection of Collins Road and Blanding Boulevard and ended with an arrest near the Shogun Restaurant, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Lt. Jesse York said.
The undercover officers met the suspect in the CVS parking lot to make a transaction around 6:30 p.m.
When the officers attempted to place the suspect under arrest, he tried flee the scene and deliberately rammed his stolen vehicle into undercover police cars, York said.
The suspect ran over one of the detectives and injured the officer's leg and foot, York said.
After crashing his vehicle into a metal pole in the CVS parking lot, he hopped out of the car a fled on foot.
A JSO officer apprehended the suspect several blocks away and, York said, severely injured his hand during the arrest.
The injured detectives and suspect were transported a local hospital.
York said officers had reasons to use deadly force, but did not due to the suspect's proximity to the busy road.
The suspect is charged with auto theft, four counts of aggravated, resisting an officer with violence, sale of narcotics and possession of narcotics, according to JSO.
The suspect is being treated while in custody at a local hospital for injuries sustained when his car crashed.
