JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- For hours North Cahoon Road on the Westside was taped off for blocks as police investigated a suspicious death. Police say 54-year-old James Timothy Waters was found dead inside his home.
"The individual that found him came over to his house to watch the football game with him and when he did he discovered the deceased so he called the police," said Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Sgt. Dan Janson.
Police say it appears there are no signs of a forced entry.
The murder is another crime added to the list of 6 thefts, 3 assaults and one burglary in Marietta since August 31, according to SpotCrime.com.
Sgt. Janson says there was at least one police call out to the home in the last week.
"Am I surprised? No," said neighbor Robin Mayes."Its real close, always concerned when someone gets killed in your back yard."
Mayes is also referring to a police involved shooting from 2010 just around the corner on Oregon street where the suspect and a police K9 were killed.
Mayes says this is the third incident near her home.
Police are not releasing the victim's cause of death at this time.
Officers are interviewing neighbors to see if they witnessed any suspicious activity in the last 48 to 24 hours.
