Two juveniles charged with sexual battery as adults.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police arrest two juveniles accused of luring a 15-year-old girl to an alley and raping her. The 17-year-old's are being charged with adult sexual battery felonies.
It was around 10 p.m. on October 9 when police say a 15-year-old girl was led to an alley with only one way in the back of Cambridge Park Apartments off University Blvd. in Arlington. A police report says Kevin Riley Johnny Turner, both 17, told the victim they were going to "have some fun and drink and smoke with her." When she said 'no' things took a turn for the worse.
Police say the victim fell after stepping in an open utility box and as she tried to get up she was pushed back on the ground and held down. A third male joined the group and police say the three took turns raping her. The report says she was screaming but they 'covered her mouth with their hands.'
The complex has an alley in the back northeast corner that you can only access by walking through the complex. Jean Fries says she's never felt unsettled about her neighborhood even though she has heard trouble outside before.
"If you hear a gunshot and you know what it is, I mean you can guess it's not the fourth of July and you hear the 'pop pop pop', that's very unsettling. I usually pray when I hear that happening," said Fries.
Fries says she always locks up after she leaves her apartment and turns on her porch light after dark.
"I lock my door even when I go check my mail and there are always police at the end of my street so when I take out my trash I see them and that makes me feel better.
The police report does not indicate that the suspects or victim live in the apartment complex. A third suspect has not been named. Police are reviewing surveillance video from the apartment complex.
