Palatka Police Department: Alleged robber, victim both shot in leg

PALATKA, Fla. -- The Palakta Police Department is investigating an alleged robbery where both the suspect and the victim were shot in the leg.

Police initially responded to a call of shots fired at 10:50 p.m. Sunday in the 2500 block of West Main Street, according to a release from PPD Asst. Chief James Griffith.

When they arrived, they found 31-year-old Dexter Brown holding 23-year-old Frasheeda Hagans on the ground.

Witnesses told police that Hagans was trying to rob Brown at gunpoint, the release detailed. Hagans shot Brown in the leg and while the two were struggling over the gun, Hagans was also shot in the leg.

The two were transported to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville with non-life-threatening injuries.
