JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Cold Case Unit responded to an officer-involved shooting near W. 45th Avenue and Dodge Street.
The incident began at about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at Cash America Pawn located on Lem Turner.
According to a JSO press conference held at 3:30 p.m., an employee called police when person was allegedly hanging outside with a gun.
JSO Sgt. A.A. Webb and Officer L.G Agle responded to the business and attempted to stop the suspect, who was driving away. According to JSO, the officers chased the vehicle to a dead end street.
Webb and Agle got out of the vehicle to tell the unidentified woman, who was driving, and man to get out of the vehicle. But, the woman allegedly drove towards the officers, injuring Webb.
JSO says officers shot the car, but the vehicle didn't stop. The officers got back into the patrol car and pursued to Moncrief Road and 45th Street, where the suspects were taken into custody.
Webb received minor injures and is expected to be OK, according to JSO. No others were reported injured.
Webb, who has worked for JSO for 24 years, and Agle, a 5 year veteran, are placed on administrative leave, as is standard procedure.
One suspect has been identified by JSO as 21-year-old Vincent Gerard Samuels. He is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
