PALM COAST, Fla. -- A man suspected of carjacking a Chinese food delivery man on Saturday was taken into custody in South Carolina.
According to a release from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, 22-year-old Giuseppe Verdone of Palm Coast is charged with:
- Aggravated battery
- Falsely impersonating a law enforcement officer
- Kidnapping to inflict bodily harm
- Interference with the custody of a juvenile
Verdone allegedly lured 43-year-old Ming Gong to a vacant home on Bayside Drive. Gong, who is the owner of King's Palace, had handcuffs placed on him by Verdone, according to detectives. Gong's car was then taken by Verdone.

Gong reportedly jumped from the vehicle, which caused him to sustain a skull fracture. He was taken to Flagler Hospital and then transported to UF Health at Jacksonville, where he is in serious condition.
After Gong jumped from the vehicle, Verdone then met up with a 15-year-old girl. They fled in Gong's vehicle to Liberty County, Georgia, where he gave police chase, the release detailed.
Authorities in Jasper County, South Carolina were able to take Verdone into custody. He is now awaiting extradition back to Flagler County.
