Gong reportedly jumped from the vehicle, which caused him to sustain a skull fracture. He was taken to Flagler Hospital and then transported to UF Health at Jacksonville, where he is in serious condition.

After Gong jumped from the vehicle, Verdone then met up with a 15-year-old girl. They fled in Gong's vehicle to Liberty County, Georgia, where he gave police chase, the release detailed.

Authorities in Jasper County, South Carolina were able to take Verdone into custody. He is now awaiting extradition back to Flagler County.
