4 killed in Baker County crash on US 90

UPDATE 11/13/13: The Florida Highway Patrol has identified victims in the crash as 36-year-old Jose Mendez-Pineda, who was riding in the Camry, and 68-year-old Eloise Foster and 85-year-old Ceda Prester, who were in the Explorer. Vivian Leland is still in serious condition.

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. -- According to the Florida Highway Patrol, four people have died following a head-on crash on U.S. 90 in Baker County.

FHP reported that a Toyota Camry traveling west and a Ford Expedition traveling east on U.S. 90 near Warden Circle crashed head-on shortly after 9 a.m.

Sgt. Dylan Bryan confirmed that the victims in the Toyota were a man and woman, and said both died at the scene. A FHP press release later identified the passenger as 31-year-old Maria Angela Gomez Perez.

At impact, the Expedition overturned, landed on its roof and caught on fire. FHP confirmed the two unidentified passengers in the Expedition are dead and the driver, identified as 55-year-old Vivian Leland, is being treated at UF Health.

The Camry stopped facing east on the grass shoulder, the release says.

As of 3:30 p.m. Monday, FHP listed U.S. 90 as being back open.
