Jacksonville, Fla. - The Coast Guard responded to a 38-foot sailboat that ran into and struck the underside of the Buckman Bridge Thursday.
The sailboat, named Interceptor, broke free from its mooring at the Mulberry Cove Marina before hitting a bridge fender. The mast of the boat hit concrete beneath the roadway, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
No one was on the sailboat during the accident and the Coast Guard says there are no reports of injuries or pollution.
The Interceptor was last reported wedged underneath the bridge outside of the navigational channel.
The extent of damage to the bridge is unknown.
The incident follows a similar accident Wednesday at the Bridge of Lions in St. Augustine. In September, a Navy vessel struck the underside of the Mathews Bridge in Jacksonville, requiring that span to be closed for more than a month.
