PALM COAST, Fla. -- A bus stolen from Alachua County Public Schools was found Monday in Palm Coast and is being returned to Alachua.
The discovery of the bus was the latest in "an elaborate theft ring operating in Northeast Florida and South Georgia," Flagler County Sheriff James L. Manfre said in a FCSO release.
Palm Harbor Academy was renting the bus from 95 South Tours and Transportation of Jacksonville and was paying for the bus maintenance, gas and driver.
The owner of 95 South Tours and Transportation, Alphonso Rock, was arrested Nov. 4 and according to JSO Inmate Search Records is charged with five counts of theft of a motor vehicle (less than $100,000) and two counts of possessing or selling a vehicle with an altered ID. Rock was released from jail on Nov. 5.
Rock's attorney Taylor Casey told First Coast News that Rock is cooperating with the investigation.
