Andrew Edward Bangerter, 51
RICHMOND, Va. -- A sexual predator sought by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was arrested Friday by U.S. Marshals at a Virginia truck stop.
Andrew Bangerter, 51, was wanted by JSO for Failure to Comply with Sexual Predator Registration, according to a release from the U.S. Marshals Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force (FRFTF).
JSO requested assistance from the FRFTF, which learned that Bangerter had left the state of Florida.
According to the release, the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Task Force located Bangerter sleeping on a bench at a truck stop in Richmond, Va., where he was arrested and taken to jail.
The FRFTF is made up of law enforcement officers from the area whose mission is to locate and arrest dangerous fugitives. Participating agencies in Northeast Florida are the Clay County Sheriff's Office, Columbia County Sheriff's Office, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, St Johns County Sheriff's Office and the United States Marshals Service.
