A semi-truck rests atop a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office vehicle after a crash Sunday.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- At least two people were hurt after a semi-truck crashed into three vehicles, including an unmarked police car, Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
Traffic was slowed near the intersection of I-95 and Emerson Street about 4:30 p.m. after police said an 18-wheeler ran a red light and clipped two vehicles.
Police said after hitting two vehicles, the truck rolled backward onto an unmarked Jacksonville Sheriff's Office vehicle that was empty at the time.
A JSO detective told First Coast News that prior to the crash, police received multiple calls from drivers alarmed about the truck driver's "erratic" driving on the interstate.
Two people inside the first vehicle hit were taken to the hospital, police said. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The Sheriff's Office is investigating.
