JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A car crash on Interstate 95 took the life of a Virginia man Sunday morning.
Michael Arthur Keegan, 53, of Virginia Beach died in the accident Sunday around 11:20 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Keegan was heading north on I-95 near Duval Road when, according to an independent witness, an unknown driver was traveling around 5 to 10 miles per hour in the center lane and obstructed his path.
According to the witness, the unknown driver attempted to cross the northbound lanes of I-95 to exit off Duval Road.
Keegan saw the other car at the last minute blocking the center lane of I-95 and swerved into the inside travel lane, according to FHP.
Keegan ended up losing control of his Honda and collided with the metal guardrail in the inside emergency lane.
Keegan's car spun out and collided with the rail again before landing on its roof.
The unidentified driver, who was driving either a black Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla, exited off at Duval Road and fled the scene, according to FHP.
Keegan was not wearing his seat belt, according to FHP.
