JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Some families on the First Coast are getting a unique type of message this Holiday season.
25 local dads serving time through Save Our Sons will video tape a message for their children about the importance of making good decisions.
"One of them went as far to say I want to make sure my son doesn't become me, they become like me after this," said Dr. John Guns with St. Paul Church. Guns is also is a backer of Save Our Sons, a local effort to help break the cycle of crime.
Terrell Felton is looking forward to hearing her son's message that will be heard by her three grandsons.
"This place (jail) is no place where i want you ever to go," said Felton about what she believes her son will tell his boys.
The St. Paul Church on Monday night will bring families together so they can hear their father's message privately and share with others a Christmas party. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office along with church are providing gifts for the children.
All the fathers in jail participating will be released by spring. The St.Paul Church has a program to help the dads connect with their families and get their lives back on track.
