WAYCROSS, Ga. -- According to Gary Sease with CSX, a train that was heading from Memphis to Savannah derailed near Waycross around 1 p.m. Thursday.
The derailed train included two locomotives and 40 container cars carrying mostly consumer goods including alcoholic beverages, which are leaking at this time.
The area where the train derailed is a secluded rural area.
CSX personnel are at the scene now with heavy equipment to clear the cars.
The clean-up will probably continue tomorrow, according to Sease.
