JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man shot in the face this summer outside a Westside Applebee's restaurant says a fatal shooting that happened earlier this week at another local Applebee's is stirring up memories.

Mike Brown, 26, was shot along with a friend after they were confronted by a man in the wee hours of the morning after celebrating a birthday party at the Applebee's on 103rd Street.

"I now definitely don't shop maybe past 8 o'clock," said Brown who spent two weeks in the hospital. He said a bullet is still lodged in his neck.

Brown said reports of gunfire bring back memories of the confrontation when a man was given money and they even offered to fill his car with gas.

"He did not want it," said Brown. "He came back and that when he shot us and for no reason. We gave him money, we offered to put gas in his car. He did not want it."

The suspect in the shooting has been arrested charged with attempted murder and armed robbery.

For Brown, the experience has him more on edge and cautious.

"If it happened at Applebee's it can happen anywhere or any side of town. It really doesn't matter," said Brown.
