JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Three off-duty firefighters on Monday jumped into action as a Jacksonville businesses was showing lots of smoke combined with flames.

The owners of XL Carts are firefighters who on their off time sell golf carts, but seeing a neighboring business on fire had the firefighters in action.

"I stared at it a second, thinking maybe got a fire going they are cold or something," said Garrett Wilson from the front door of his business near Airport Road and Interstate 95.

Wilson, along with Anthony Douglas and Greg Porter, grabbed fire extinguishers, lots of them, and responded to flames showing at Braddock Metallurgical.

The off-duty firefighters helped bring the fire under control until fire trucks and on duty firefighters arrived.

Braddock Metallurgical declined comment on the work of the off-duty firefighters.

The fire nearby caught the off-duty firefighters by surprise.

"I hear structure fire, I am thinking not in fire station, something is bad," said Douglas, who was doing office work when heard someone yelling 'there is a fire next door!'
