ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Many realtors get to know the people they're working with beyond just making the sale and that includes understanding their financial troubles.

"We've seen tough times, a lot of short sales and foreclosures. People have lost their jobs in this economy and times are tough," Dianne Pittman of Watson Realty in St. Augustine said.

Watson Realty on the First Coast has partnered with First Coast News in the Hero Toy and Food Drive.

Watson Realty offices across northeast Florida are drop-off sites for non-perishable food items and new toys. Watson's open houses this weekend are also drop-off sites where donors can take food and toys. Realtors will then take those donations to their offices for the drive.

The food and toys collected all stay right here on the First Coast, and that's important to Pittman.

"This is where we live. This is where our business comes from. This is where our friends and family are and all that goes with all that," Pittman explained.

Watson Realty has four offices taking donations in St. Johns County:

  • In St. Augustine on U.S. 1 South at the corner of Old Moultrie Road
  • In St. Augustine Beach on Highway A1A near Ace Hardware
  • In Ponte Vedra on A1A close to Publix
  • On County Road 210 near the South Hampton neighborhood

Watson Realty offices in Duval County and in St. Marys, Ga. are also drop-off locations.
