PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Last year, Tim McGraw performed in a special concert on Military Appreciation Day at THE PLAYERS.  This year, another country music superstar, Darius Rucker, will sing on the TPC Sawgrass clubhouse lawn on Wednesday, May 11 at 5:30 p.m.

As is the case for the entire tournament week, all active duty, Reserve and retired military personnel and their dependents are admitted free for Military Appreciation Day, as are children under the age of 18 with a ticketed adult.  For the general public, Wednesday Practice Round tickets are only $20 for the entire day.

THE PLAYERS is scheduled for May 9-15, 2011, at THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

"We're thrilled to welcome Darius Rucker to Northeast Florida for Military Appreciation Day, continuing a strong tradition at THE PLAYERS Championship where we've been able to bring tremendous entertainment to our fans on Wednesday of tournament week, while also honoring our military personnel who are such an important part of this community," said THE PLAYERS Executive Director Matt Rapp.  "Darius is not only a world-renowned musician, but he's also a huge golf fan and is very invested in giving back to charity.  He'll be a perfect addition to Military Appreciation Day, and we look forward to hosting him, our military community and welcoming record crowds on May 11."

Rucker will be a part of a 5:30 p.m. ceremony during Military Appreciation Day to salute America's heroes.  The program on TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse Lawn will include pageantry by military personnel, the National Anthem performed by the 82nd Airborne All-American Chorus from Ft. Bragg (N.C.) and a flyover, as well as remarks from PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem and a PGA TOUR player (TBD).  Rucker will close the program with a special musical performance dedicated to the military and their families.
