JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The new Duval County Courthouse will be open for move-in this week after passing fire suppression system tests.

"The courthouse passed with flying colors," Fire Chief Martin Senterfitt said.

A temporary certificate of occupancy has been issued so staff can begin moving in, Senterfitt said. Now, minor issues need to be addressed and then the permanent certificate will be issued.

"In the last few days, Turner and their people have been really meticulous," Senterfitt said.

Circuit Judge Lance Day said employees will begin moving in on Monday. Limited services will remain at the courthouse annex this coming week and operations should start at the new courthouse following week.
